Ramon de Armas, DVM
I am a 2000 Veterinary Medicine graduate of the “Universidad Central de Las Villas,” in Cuba, where I graduated with honors in Veterinary Propedeutics, Veterinary Surgery, and Veterinary Internal Medicine.
Growing up as a child in a farm close to Sancti Spiritus, Cuba, I was surrounded and awed by many different species of animals. I cared for dogs, cats, cattle, rode horses and I always felt a special connection with all of them. When I decided to become a veterinarian I thought back to those times as a child and I knew it was the right career path for me. Over the years, while attending Veterinary College at “Las Villas University” and afterwards while working as a small animal practitioner, I have been exposed to many levels of animal comfort and joy, as well as many inevitable moments of grieving.
As a veterinarian, I feel one of my most important responsibilities is to educate and help pet owners understand their relationship with their pets as a family member, help cure my patient’s illnesses and provide support when grieving is the only outcome. I have had many pets of my own over the years and each one has been special to me. They have been constant companions throughout all the changes and milestones in my life. I know what it is like to love and lose a special friend and I would not trade any of the moments I had with them.
My goal as a veterinarian in our Veterinary Hospital is to help people who share a life and a home with their loving animal companions.
In August 2010, I started to give the first steps towards my most challenging professional dream ever, dream that came to reality in January 2013, when Paws and Claws medical Center opened its doors to all pets near Kendale Lakes and all surrounding areas of Miami Florida.
I enjoy working all areas of veterinary medicine, but I have a special interest in, Veterinary Soft tissue and orthopedic surgery,Veterinary Internal Medicine, Preventive Veterinary Medicine and Pain management and control. In these different areas, I have spent years of study and have participated numerous courses of specialized continuing education in order to develop a solid expertise, so I can offer my patients the high quality service the all deserve.
I am a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the American Animal Hospitals Association and the International Veterinary Academy of Pain Management.
